TRINITAS, CONCEPT, 2017

This design for a spatial installation calls to mind humanity’s many attempts to envision the house as a sacred place. As secularisation sweeps the floor with anything holy, only art can stand its ground and represent the gooey stuff that is called spiritual identity.
These three reliefs that are standing within a confined space, are reminiscent of sacred statues. In this day and age they no longer obey their function, but as pieces of art they are still no more and no less than a crystallisation of ideals; gods that are no longer worshiped, but that simply manifest themselves.
