A3 WALL RELIEF, CONCEPT, 2020

This concept uses the same formal language of the A series, but strips it from its volume. The curved surfaces now only manifest as a play of light. From a distance it becomes hard to discern which one of the points is protruding and which one is caving in.  Equivocally it both shapes the light and is shaped by it. The intended material for this concept is dark concrete. Various versions and sizes are possible.

This wall relief creates an optical illusion: what is depth becomes peak, what is peak becomes depth. The feeling of suspense this evokes feels at once uncanny yet calm. The installation carries the message that within the ‘not knowing’, one can find an inner balance point within the observational faculties.
