A3a, MIXED MEDIA, 2008- 2018
Visible from both its sides, this reprise interacts with itself in a subtle duet. This installation consists of two identical pieces, arranged in such a way that the two sides of the sculpture are simultaneously visible. The side that previously remained hidden, now has become entirely visible, showing how the shape turns itself inside out. This interplay between inside and outside is induced by the light bouncing of the concave and convex surfaces. This is a sculptural situation sketch (to be enlarged and placed in a shallow pond).
As is usually the case with kindred spirits, the similarity of the pieces directs the attention to the minute differences. In one glance, the viewer can observe the sculpture not only from two sides, but also in the reflection of the water. The multidimensionality of life, experience and ultimately reality is cleverly evoked in this installation.
